Before you lecture me, know that I was using AI in my art back in 2018. I probably knew about this tech earlier than you, your friends and your friends' friends. So don't come at me with this "luddite" shit. But:
1.) I don't like the cult-like adoption of new technology without question, especially as we're watching the burning carcass of cryptocurrency smolder out right in front of us
2.) I don't like bending over and letting obviously predatory corporations fuck us with strong-arm tactics like "lul it's inevitable bro just accept it"
3.) I don't like the extremely condescending and misanthropic attitudes of techbro evangelists, who immediately throw artists under the bus any time a shiny, new technology becomes a part of their identity or profit margin. We all remember being told to "get over" our art being stolen for NFTs because it was "the future" and now they're worth less than grass
I was an early adopter of this tech. But I'm with the community on this one. Until we find a way to do this ethically, with artists and the art community seated at the table, and form a symbiotic relationship with AI tech proprietors, I absolutely cannot condone it. It's ass.
